Keri’s Story… Uh oh, it just got worse! (#2 in Series)

Preface:  Last week Keri had enlightened us on her initial scare of her long awaited pregnancy.  It all worked out, but little did she know that this was just the beginning of her troubles.  The plot thickens, here is her story…

Roughly 5-6 wks along is when the morning sickness started. I was diagnosed with Hyperemesis (severe vomiting and nausea) and was prescribed zofran, there is nothing stronger, and cancer patients use it. I threw up literally every single day  until week 18, that’s over 90 times! But who’s counting, right?

The pressure of throwing up so much made the blood vessels pop in my eyes. So now my eyes looked like they were bleeding and hurt for about a week. I hit every sink, toilet, and trash can in our entire house, no joke, like I said I even threw up in my car. Then about 10 weeks in, I woke up one night with horrible, sharp, piercing pains in my abdomen that nearly had me crippled on the floor. I barely made it to the bathroom. I start moaning in pain and banging on the bathroom walls.

You know that feeling, like you’re going to go #2 or have diarrhea, like it’s all about to come pouring out? That’s what I thought was going to happen, except I pushed and pushed and nothing would come out but a tiny little plop of something every now and then. I looked in the toilet and saw blood sitting there.

My husband was panicked; we thought I was having a miscarriage. Yet again we were fearful that this was never going to happen for us. So I check to see exactly where the blood was coming from, it was not coming from my vagina, it was coming from my rear! I know, graphic. I warned you this is not for the weak ‘n’ weary.

We then got on the phone with the emergency line at our Dr.’s office. It turns out I was just so constipated (which explains the piercing abdominal pains) and I pushed so hard that it caused blood vessels to pop in my rectum and some blood came out in the toilet, so I now had my first hemorrhoid, great…

I took a safe laxative and within 12-24 hrs was finally able to poop it all out. Let me tell you, what a relief! Constipation is a pregnancy symptom and can happen any time during pregnancy. Just don’t push too hard, take stool softeners.

This was only the our second scare along the way!  There are many more to come…  Stay tuned Mamas!
