A Mom without a Mother (Second in Series)

A note on Mother’s Day, 2010…

I can remember the 2 years prior to my mom passing, I would try to cheer her up and say, “things will be better next year.” Well they did not get better, and then she passed away. At this time I told myself, “things will be better next year,” yet again they were not. I missed my mom terribly, and had problems with individuals in my personal life. I am, however, happy to report….THINGS ARE BETTER THIS YEAR!!!!  Mother’s Day reminds me of this. Though I do not have my mom here to celebrate with, I have gained a truly incredible mother-in-law! (that’s a rare statement for most married woman, so I consider myself lucky!!) I am not only a mommy to Ty and Ry this year, but I am a step-mommy to Nick and Trev, and I am pregnant with a very active baby girl!! I married a man that made me breathe again, a man that made me laugh when crying seemed inevitable. So, this Mother’s day I choose not to wallow in the loss of my mom, I choose to be thankful!! Thankful to my sister who is a constant source of love and joy in my life. She brings the special aspects of our mother into the boys life, and she loves all four of the boys! Thankful to Patty who will always be a positive influence in my life as a wife, and a mother. For welcoming my children as grandchildren, and myself as a Council! To Danielle who keeps me sane as a mother, and calm as a wife! For making me always see the bright side, and letting me talk her ear off!! To Tyler for constantly making me laugh, and constantly testing my patience. To Nick for showing me unfailing love, and making me even fatter with out trips to Dunkin’ Donuts. To Ry for being my reminder of the happy times of my mom talking to him in my belly, and showing my why I despise the terrible twos!! To Trevor for being the cutest little cuddle bug, and for making me smile when all life’s drama comes to play! Last but most certainly not least, I want to thank my gorgeous husband on this first Mother’s Day we share for giving me two fantastic step-sons, and for the upcoming arrival of our baby girl. I love you Andy, always have, always will!! I will miss my mom always, but with such incredible individuals in my world, life has been made a whole lot easier!! Happy Mother’s Day!!!
