Husband Vs. Wife

Husband Vs. Wife

Within our marriages, we tend to have trials and tribulations, ups and downs…well that’s life.  It’s all a matter of how we choose to resolve the issues.  While I could bring all of my spousal spats to the table (most likely the same things you argue about with your spouse…kids, money, who does more, blah, blah, blah). I have chosen to save all of that for another day because God knows those tiffs aren’t going anywhere.  Instead I have brought a little interior design drama to the table.  We’ve been redecorating our living room for the last two months and this little tiff is the straw that is breaking the camels back.  I’ll keep it short and sweet!

Currently my husband, Matt, and I are having a disagreement regarding the picture above.  This blog is my way of resolving the issue because of course, I think I am right.  In all fairness to my super sweet, tolerable, husband I am putting it out there to anyone who will listen to both sides of the story…well, and it’s kind of fun!

In Matt’s defense, I have a bad habit of getting things under the false pretense that I will return them if they don’t work out.  I do eventually return things (I have approximately $150 worth of things that need to go back currently) but not always as timely as I should.

On my side of the coin, everything I buy is always on sale (you know I love my Real Deals, but I sometimes stray from exactly what I was looking for to take advantage of a great deal).  I have recently bought a canvas painting that matches the colors of our newly painted living room perfectly ($7.88 mind you) to replace what was supposed to be more of a modern looking black, white, green, maybe yellow piece.  The painting I bought is a totally different look than we were aiming for, but once again it was only $7.88!!!  My thought is to keep this until we find a piece we like, then donate the inexpensive piece to the church or a worthy cause.

Matt thinks we should return the picture.  He doesn’t want to spend money twice.   It’s a matter of principle. I think we should keep the picture; the $7.88 says it all!  What do YOU think?  Please vote by leaving a comment below, Husband or Wife??

  • WIFE!!! :):):) That’s one for me…take that Big Daddy!!

  • Donna says:

I’d argue, at $7.88 it wouldn’t be worth the gas money to return it at this point! 🙂 Unless it’s from the same store/area that you need to return your other items that amounted to $150.

  • Renee says:

Lori-I think you’re doing a wonderful job re-decorating your living room! I saw it in person last week and it’s just beautiful. Concerning the picture: It looks really nice! Sorry, Matt!! I think it’s a keeper until you do find the perfect piece you are looking for.
For that cheap price, it’s really not worth returning it. Good luck!

  • Matt says:

I vote for me, myself, and I. And I am Husbad!!!

  • Carlyn says:

Sorry Matt…but I agree with Lori! But Robbie says he agrees with Matt. He says to stop buying stuff you don’t need regardless of the price! lol
I say WHATEVER…I get it totally. It was only $7.88 and serves a purpose for now.
    There you go!

  • Tom Yankus says:

    I vote Independent.
Mr. Tom is a “broken record” regarding this issue. Communication is the key in every marriage. Little “things” add up and become problems that erode the inner core of a marriage away. I know. The late Cubs announcer had one of my favorite quotes of all time, Lori and Matt.
“There is always ‘three’ sides to a story in a disagreement. Your side, his side and somewhere in the middle is the truth.” In other words, the only way to solve it is to discuss it.
I’ll add that “healing” may take place afterwards and you know what I mean. Mr. Tom

(Matt…I’m not saying I like the pic but the colors do go well in the living area)

  • Tiffany Meyer says:

    First, Lori, I love you!

Um, I am SO sorry, but be it $7.88 or $78.80… It’s uh, kind of an ugly picture.

    On the flip side…

I have two $6.56 curtain rods downstairs hiding in the coat closet. I don’t have curtains for them (YET) but they were originally $49.99.
