Curious George Captivates Coral Gables

Curious George Captivates Coral Gables

From the moment we pulled into the parking lot at the Bank United Center in Coral Gables, it was first class all the way!  The girls and I were thrilled to be able to attend Curious George’s World Premier Tour on behalf of Sunshine Mamas!

First of all, the parking was FREE!!  Followed by the most courteous staff I’ve ever encountered.  They were walking folks to their seats and it just felt like home.  I also enjoyed many conversations with all of the Mamas at the show, not to mention all of the new friends the girls made!

Now on to the main event!  We walked into the arena and the stage was larger than life with bright lights and of coarse, our favorite, Curious George’s picture! It was surrounded by tons of fun goodies such as Dippin’ Dots, Snow Cones, Popcorn, Treats, and of coarse all of the Curious George memorabilia a child could want.  It was all very reasonably priced and too cute for words.  The girls squealed with delight at the mere vision of it all.  It wasn’t long before the lights went down and the show began in full force.

The performance consisted of all of our favorite Curious George Characters.  They didn’t waste a second jumping right into an energy filled musical complete with awesome singing and dancing!  I felt like I was at a Broadway Musical with all of the talent that was on stage!!  The lighting and 3-D stage settings were WAY beyond expectation as was the entire performance!  George was so cute and cuddly looking…just like the monkey we have all grown to love over the years!

George definitely wasn’t monkeying around when he decided he was going to enter his friend, Chef Pisghetti’s, famous meatballs in a world-wide meatball competition.  George ships himself to Rome (pretty darn clever for a monkey) and takes himself on a crazy adventure followed by the Man with the Yellow Hat and all of his friends from Number 7 Avenue!

I don’t want to give away the ending to George’s awesome adventure but I can tell you it was a masterpiece in teaching children the importance of friendship, love, kindness, and determination!  I would highly recommend Curious George Live to all of you Mamas out there!  This was truly an unforgettable adventure, Mamas!

Don’t worry, Mamas!  You can still get your tickets!!  Utilize the coupon code below for a special friends discount just for reading Sunshine Mamas!!  Tune in next week for our next fabulous giveaway, Monster Trucks!!

Friends of Sunshine Mamas can use the code FRIEND online at ticketmaster.com to receive $3 off each ticket to Curious George Live! (Offer excludes Gold Circle, Monkey Seats, and the August 6, 7 PM performance)

Super cool, I’m so jealous. Curious George is the coolest! Glad you guys got to go experience the fun, and had a great time.

  • Silvia says:

Mama Lori, you explained the whole experience quite well….Maybe better than I can, but please allow me to add my take. We went to the 7:00PM show last night (8-6-10) and the experience was unbelievable.

As we were hauling a small bus of children (5 kids between 3 and 5), it was very nice to see that the parking was very close to the building entrance and FREE. Upon looking at the very large building, I thought to myself, wow this place is so large, it is going to be a fiasco finding will call tickets and seats. Boy was I wrong. Almost as soon as we got out of the car, we were greeted by a very friendly employee of the building that actually walked us to the will call window. We picked up the tickets, entered the building and there was another friendly face offering to walk us to our seats. WOW. In my life, I have been to a ton of concerts, plays, and various sporting events. I have NEVER experienced event employees so friendly that they walked us to the building and another to the seats. Again….WOW. We were two adults with 5 young kids. How simple. Why don’t more places offer customer service like this? Maybe it’s not customer service it’s customer care.

Upon entering, there is a large, very colorful, sort of screen that encompasses the stage with a giant Curious George face in the corner. All of our group of children immediately screamed and jumped and let out a bunch of kiddie energy. You see Curious George is quite a popular one in our house. The kiddie energy in the building was great.

The kids loved the show. Dancing, singing, and a bunch of good Curious George fun nonsense. There was a small break in the middle, which was good because the kids started getting a bit antsy. It was about the right length….Maybe an hour and a half. Without ruining the ending on stage, it ended with a whole bunch of confetti and streamers coming from all directions overhead. The kids absolutely loved it. While leaving, we were again greeted by numerous, smiling people thanking us so much for attending the show. I was thinking to myself, “Well dang, thanks for having this C.G. show here.”

To all fellow moms reading this. GO. Go and see this show. You will not be disappointed in any way. But more than that, the kids will absolutely love it.

I really want to see Curious George!

  • Peggy says:

Thanks Sunshine Mamas for tickets to an awesome show! We too, were pleasantly surprised to find out there was not a parking fee! And everyone was nice and helpful inside. The concession stand and front door workers were great. They chatted with us and even offered to take our pictures in front of a cut out of Curious George! We went to the Saturday 11 am show and were shocked to see only about 150 people if that there! But, it was great for my friends little roamer who got to walk up and down the aisles without disturbing anyone! My little 3yr old was captivated and paid no attention to anyone but Curious George! He didnt even want his snacks, he was so into the show! Thanks again for an awesome time!!

  • Hello Silvia,

Thank you so much for your comment!! (You wrote a fabulous recap by the way!) It sounds like you had a wonderful experience just as my family did. You are very brave, five small children, two adults, one awesome show…you deserve kudos for that alone! I too have to once again touch on the amazing customer service at BankUnited Center, AWESOME!! Once again, thank you for your contribution and visiting Sunshine Mamas. We look forward to hearing from you in the future.

    Best wishes,

    Hi Peggy,

You’re so welcome! (For those of you who don’t know, Peggy won our family four pack of tickets compliments of Sunshine Mamas and Vee Corp, I love Vee.) I am thrilled that you enjoyed yourselves!! No snacks even, now that’s impressive!! How thoughtful of you to drop us a line! We love to hear from our readers on any occasion, but especially in these instances. Best of luck to you in the future and as I told Silvia, we look forward to hearing from you in the future.

    Thanks for the comment,
