Sexual Healing for a Healthier Life (First in a Series)

Attitudes and Latitudes

“Mr. Tom” Yankus

I was finished playing tourist and waiting for my flight back to Atlanta several summers back. I purchased a local Dublin newspaper in the airport pub while longing to slowly sip on my last creamy Irish tradition. Guinness and I had developed a friendship these past weeks.

I casually read the front page headlines of worldly news and then opened to inside pages and I was shocked and caught off guard. I mean…both male and female frontal nudity was in print in the local section for all to see! I quickly closed the paper just hoping that nobody saw my reaction. I looked about and saw others reading the same pages (they were from locales in Europe) having little reaction other then an amusing smile or comment to a friend or partner. Nobody in the pub cared but this American!

I felt VERY American at that moment.

I mean…here I was this 60 year old man shocked and somewhat embarrassed at the sight of bare beautiful breasts and other vital parts tastefully displayed in newspaper print? This was not a “sexy tabloid” but a Dublin daily. It was not a “rag.”

Damn…I felt that I had just committed a mortal sin! I felt like Adam after Eve ate the apple. Hey, put clothes on Eve, please! Why this feeling?

We know the answer. I did say I was an American, didn’t I.

We (generally, most in our country) would have had that same first reaction. After all, we are brought up watching prime-time television, when, on an average evening, there can be an estimated 15 simulated murders/deaths. You see, it’s okay to show death and brutality in America each and every evening. What would happen to your newspaper and/or your local TV station if they displayed “skin” as they do in Europe? Yes, not only in the paper but on European television, too.

We all know what the answer is to that question and I may add that the FCC would be waiting to collect fines for indecency.

Murder and brutality are permitted but try putting the beauty of an unclothed person in the newspaper or on any channel. Try putting adults in adult situations. Talk about a double standard. Talk about the way we’re looked upon in other advanced countries.

What is my point? In what direction am I heading and how can I relate the title to a series dealing with, “Sexual Healing for a Healthier Life?” Once, my Doctoral Thesis was to research this very topic.

I invite you to read along for this series will eventually cover why we were created as two different but similar species trying to relate and live as one both emotionally and physically.

I invite you and hope we can answer the questions as to why one species has the “plug”  and the other has the “plug-in” and how we can keep the electricity from being turned off. Hmmm…
